BillingPlatform has expanded its executive leadership team with the appointment of Steven Springsteel as Chief Financial Officer, Rob Zwiebach as Chief Product Officer and Chris King as Chief Customer Officer.

The Denver-based company said the additions strengthen its leadership across finance, product development and customer success as it seeks to expand its position in the enterprise usage-to-cash software market.

BillingPlatform provides an AI-native monetization platform that supports metering, billing and revenue recognition through a unified metadata model. The company’s technology is designed to help large enterprises manage increasingly complex subscription, usage-based, outcome-based, hybrid and AI-driven pricing models.

The platform allows enterprise finance and operations teams to configure, analyze and govern billing processes through conversational AI capabilities. BillingPlatform said its architecture maintains a single source of information across the revenue lifecycle, from the initial usage event through billing and the corresponding journal entry.

The leadership appointments come after BillingPlatform generated more than 500% revenue growth over the past five years. Its customers include J.P. Morgan, DIRECTV, Instacart, FIS, CCC Intelligent Solutions, Panera, Carrier and Clear Channel.

BillingPlatform CEO Chris Bishop said the new executives bring experience from companies including Recurly, Workday, Oracle, Salesforce and Zuora. Their appointments are intended to help the company respond to growing enterprise demand for more flexible billing and revenue-management infrastructure.

Springsteel joins BillingPlatform as CFO with more than 35 years of financial and operational leadership experience in enterprise software.

He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of subscription billing platform Recurly. His career also includes CFO and CEO positions at BetterWorks, MetricStream, Actian Corporation, Liquid Robotics and MarkLogic.

Springsteel has led two initial public offerings, raised more than $400 million through equity and debt financings, and managed multiple mergers and acquisitions.

At BillingPlatform, he will oversee the company’s financial strategy and operations as it invests in product development, customer growth and international expansion. His previous experience in the subscription billing market also gives him direct knowledge of the competitive and operational dynamics affecting BillingPlatform’s customers.

Springsteel said BillingPlatform’s ability to support the full revenue lifecycle through a single metadata model differentiates it from more fragmented billing systems.

His appointment adds an executive with experience scaling enterprise software companies, accessing the capital markets and managing strategic transactions.

Zwiebach becomes Chief Product Officer and will work closely with BillingPlatform founder and Chief Technology Officer Leo Solomon on the company’s product strategy.

He joins from Workday, where he served as Vice President of Product Management for Financial Management. In that role, he led the product roadmap for a suite of financial applications used by more than 2,100 organizations.

Before Workday, Zwiebach spent 17 years at Oracle. His positions there included Vice President of Financial Applications and Vice President of Applications Development.

Zwiebach’s background gives BillingPlatform additional expertise in the financial systems used by large enterprises, including many of the accounting and enterprise resource planning platforms with which billing and revenue-management technology must integrate.

As CPO, he will help guide the development of BillingPlatform’s AI-native capabilities and its broader usage-to-cash product roadmap.

The company is targeting enterprises that have struggled to adapt traditional billing systems to rapidly changing business models. These organizations increasingly need to price and monetize subscriptions, product usage, customer outcomes and AI consumption through a common platform.

BillingPlatform believes its unified architecture can reduce the complexity created when metering, billing and revenue recognition are handled through separate systems that require reconciliation.

The company also provides conversational capabilities that allow users to interact with its billing data and operations through AI. Its platform supports a native Model Context Protocol server, agent-to-agent protocol support and services that can be called by enterprise AI tools or autonomous agents.

King joins BillingPlatform as Chief Customer Officer with approximately 25 years of technology industry experience.

He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Success, Services and Support at Medidata Solutions.

King previously held multiple senior vice president positions at Salesforce, including roles involving Customers for Life and consulting. He oversaw large-scale services operations and worked on improving long-term outcomes across Salesforce’s enterprise customer base.

Earlier in his career, King held several leadership positions at subscription management software company Zuora.

At BillingPlatform, King will oversee customer success and help enterprise clients realize measurable results from their deployments beyond the initial implementation process.

His responsibilities will include strengthening customer engagement throughout the full relationship lifecycle and helping companies use BillingPlatform’s technology to address billing, monetization and revenue-recognition requirements.

BillingPlatform said King’s experience building professional services, customer success and AI-enabled transformation organizations will be important as the company expands its customer base and supports more complex enterprise deployments.

The company’s platform supports revenue recognition requirements under ASC 606 and IFRS 15 and can be used across more than 180 countries.

BillingPlatform is positioning the platform for companies adopting new pricing structures associated with AI services, including usage-based and outcome-based models. These approaches can require more flexible metering and billing infrastructure than traditional subscription software.

The addition of Springsteel, Zwiebach and King gives BillingPlatform dedicated executive leadership across the financial, product and customer functions required to scale its platform and commercial operations.

The company said the appointments reflect its expectation that enterprise demand for AI-native monetization and revenue-management technology will continue to accelerate.
