Bilzin Sumberg Adds Tax And Private Wealth Lawyers Mauricio Rivero And Adriana Ortiz

Bilzin Sumberg expanded its Tax and Private Wealth practice with the addition of Mauricio D. Rivero as a partner and Adriana O. Ortiz as an associate.

Rivero advises foreign investors, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and businesses on domestic and international tax matters.

His practice includes U.S. tax structuring and compliance, inbound and outbound investments, treaty planning, cross-border M&A, corporate and partnership taxation, business succession, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, fund structuring, and foreign trusts and estates.

He also advises financial institutions and foreign trust companies on FATCA and CRS matters.

Rivero represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Tax Court in compliance, voluntary disclosure, and tax controversy matters.

He previously served as a partner at Nelson Mullins and Akerman, practiced at Holland & Knight, and spent 10 years as an IRS revenue agent.

Rivero also teaches corporate and partnership tax law at Florida International University College of Law.

Ortiz joins Bilzin Sumberg’s Tax, Trusts & Estates group.

Her background includes work at Grant Thornton and KPMG focused on tax issues related to mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

She later practiced at Nelson Mullins.

Bilzin Sumberg said the additions strengthen its capabilities serving international investors, family offices, and high-net-worth clients with complex cross-border tax and estate planning needs.
