BioConsortia Raises $15 Million To Accelerate Global Launch Of Zaffre And Always N

BioConsortia has secured a $15 million equity investment to accelerate the commercial expansion of its microbial technologies for agriculture, including its Zaffre biostimulant and Always N nitrogen-fixing seed treatment products.

The investment was provided by an entity affiliated with John Pasquesi, managing member of existing BioConsortia investor Otter Capital. The new capital will support commercial launches as well as the manufacturing, regulatory, and commercial infrastructure needed to scale BioConsortia’s products globally.

BioConsortia’s Zaffre biostimulant is designed to improve crop emergence, stand establishment, and yield while supporting crop performance under cold- and heat-stressed conditions. Across three seasons of corn trials, the company said Zaffre delivered an average yield increase of 4.4 bushels per acre.

Always N is designed to help crops biologically fix nitrogen and reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizer. BioConsortia said the product provides more than two years of shelf life and an additional two years of stability on treated seed, making it compatible with industrial seed treatment operations.

The Always N platform is available in both wild-type and gene-edited versions, allowing BioConsortia to address different regulatory requirements across global markets. The company said adoption of its Always N seed treatment in New Zealand through partner H&T increased from approximately 5% in 2024 to about 50% in 2025 and is projected to reach approximately 80% in 2026.

Commercial activity for Always N is also expanding across the Americas, European Union, Asia, and Australia. BioConsortia has a commercial partnership with The Mosaic Company supporting the product in the Americas.

Beyond its lead products, BioConsortia is developing a broader portfolio spanning biostimulants, biofertilizers, and biological crop protection. The company is advancing a foliar biofungicide through Nichino in selected markets while conducting expanded global partner trials involving seed treatment biofungicides, bionematicides, and bioinsecticides.

BioConsortia combines microbial discovery, gene editing, and field validation to develop biological products for row and specialty crops. The latest investment is intended to help the company move from technology development and field validation toward larger-scale manufacturing, commercialization, and international partnerships.
