BioStack Raises $9.5 Million Seed Round To Build Multimodal Data Infrastructure For Medical AI

BioStack has raised $9.5 million in seed funding to expand a global healthcare data infrastructure network that turns fragmented clinical records into multimodal datasets for medical AI, biotechnology research, and drug development.

The round was backed by Peak XV, Afore Capital, DCVC, Emerson Collective, SV Angel, Verdict Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Y Combinator.

BioStack said its network spans the U.S., India, Brazil, and Argentina and includes access to more than 100 million de-identified patient records.

The company is building workflows that connect clinical information distributed across hospitals, providers, and technology systems. Its platform brings together notes, lab results, medical imaging, medications, treatments, and patient outcomes to create longitudinal records for studying disease progression and treatment response.

BioStack also creates proprietary datasets from de-identified information collected from participating provider systems. These datasets can support training and evaluating medical AI models, clinical research, drug development, disease modeling, biomarker discovery, patient stratification, and treatment-response analysis.

The company has already combined several hundred thousand X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans with pathology and other clinical records. BioStack said these multimodal datasets can help train AI agents designed to assist clinicians in evaluating treatment options and potential patient outcomes.

BioStack is also applying its infrastructure to international clinical programs. In India, the company is helping connect cancer patients with an investigational cancer vaccine program, while clinical information can be used to support biotechnology companies’ development efforts.

The funding will support BioStack’s continued expansion across the U.S. and international markets, further development of its technology platform, and growth of its engineering and research teams.

The company was founded by CEO Sanat Mishra and CTO Parth Patwa and is positioning its infrastructure as a data layer connecting healthcare providers, researchers, biotechnology companies, and medical AI developers.

By combining longitudinal clinical histories with biological data and long-term outcomes, BioStack aims to provide developers and researchers with a more complete view of how diseases evolve and how patients respond to different interventions.

KEY QUOTES:

“Collecting every event linked to each patient enables a view of what happens at each stage of a patient’s journey. We’re building the infrastructure that connects all of the clinical information and makes it useful, both for clinicians making decisions today and for the researchers and AI developers building the future of medicine.”

Sanat Mishra, Co-Founder And CEO Of BioStack

“The next frontier of healthcare AI will depend not only on better models, but on access to high-quality, longitudinal data that reflects how patients are treated over time. Sanat and the BioStack team are building critical infrastructure that connects fragmented clinical information and transforms it into a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers and AI developers. We believe BioStack has the potential to become an important data layer for the next generation of medical AI.”
