Defining Unified Security Posture Management: Manoj Srivastava On Transforming Cyber Defenses

By Amit Chowdhry • Today at 1:00 PM

Blackpoint Cyber is a technology-driven cybersecurity company founded by former U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence security experts. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Blackpoint Cyber Chief Technology and Product Officer Manoj Srivastasa to learn more about the company and its technology.

Manoj Srivastasa’s Background

Manoj Srivastasa

Could you tell me more about your background? Srivastasa said:

“I’ve worked in cybersecurity and networking for over two decades, leading and scaling product and engineering teams through key milestones like IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions. Prior to Blackpoint Cyber, I was Deputy CTO at Tenable where I shaped the company’s technology vision and product strategy. Having obtained Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert status enhances my focus on corporate governance and managing systemic risk in complex digital environments. As Chief Technology and Product Officer at Blackpoint Cyber, I guide the company’s product strategy and deliver advanced security solutions that empower our partners and their clients.”

Details About CompassOne

Please tell us about CompassOne. Srivastasa shared:

“CompassOne represents a new solution category what I call ‘Unified Security Posture’ (USP), that’s dedicated to helping our direct and indirect customers understand and improve their cybersecurity posture. We recognized that while many organizations excel at point-in-time security checks, maintaining a holistic, continuous view of their security posture is a challenge. Another persistent issue is the adoption of multiple security tools that often remain siloed, which impedes timely incident detection and response.”

“CompassOne centralizes visibility, proactive protection, threat detection and response across an organization’s entire security environment. It consolidates identity, network, cloud, and endpoint insights under one unified platform, so security teams can measure, monitor, and improve their cybersecurity maturity on an ongoing basis. Our unified security platform builds on Blackpoint Cyber’s managed detection and response (MDR) foundation but goes deeper into proactive risk management, tying security posture assessments directly into real-time threat response.”

Use Cases

Can you provide a few use cases? Srivastasa noted:

“One common scenario involves MSPs working with their clients that have grown quickly and now manage multiple point solutions. These fragmented security tools create blind spots, making it difficult to detect threats in real-time. CompassOne unifies the data from disparate sources—EDR, identity, network, cloud, and vulnerability scans —into a single Platform. This platform will also help identify what exposures really matter. This allows MSPs to spot gaps and address vulnerabilities before they’re exploited. It also simplifies how Blackpoint’s SOC responds if a threat does emerge.”

“Another use case is in regulated industries like healthcare and financial services where audits and compliance reporting can be time intensive. By offering a centralized dashboard and continuous monitoring across the attack surface, CompassOne streamlines those compliance processes. Organizations don’t need to scramble to gather logs or prove controls are in place; everything is continuously tracked and updated in real time.”

Core Differentiators

What are the core differentiators for this solution? Srivastasa affirmed:

“The cybersecurity landscape is increasingly complex, with organizations struggling to manage disparate security solutions that operate in silos. Many businesses have relied on best-of-breed security tools, thinking that assembling different technologies would provide the best defense. However, this approach has led to limited visibility, increased operational complexity, and slower response times, creating vulnerabilities that adversaries can exploit.”

“CompassOne represents the next evolution in cybersecurity, moving beyond the limitations of traditional solutions like XDR, SIEM, and Exposure Management. Unlike these siloed approaches, CompassOne integrates detection, exposure management, identity security, and automated response into a single, continuous security framework. This connectivity is key—assets across the attack surface are inter-connected. Security threats don’t exist in isolation, and defenses shouldn’t either.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Srivastasa emphasized:

“We are expanding our capabilities to enable our partners to evaluate each client’s maturity level, integrate those findings into a cohesive security plan, and help them implement improvements step by step.”

“Historically, MDR was primarily about real-time detection and response—spotting threats quickly and neutralizing them. While that remains critical, we’re seeing a shift toward incorporating proactive security measures and putting the right security hygiene in place to mitigate threats before they can cause damage.”

“‘Cyber hygiene’ services often include periodic vulnerability assessments, regular patching, network segmentation, cloud policy management, and ongoing risk assessments. By integrating these elements with detection and response, we can drastically reduce the windows of opportunity for attackers.”

Future Of Unified Secure Posture Management

What is your vision for the future of Unified Secure Posture Management? Srivastasa explained:

“I see Unified Security Posture Management evolving into a discipline that is as continuous and data driven as financial auditing. Organizations of all sizes will demand real-time visibility into their security posture, detailed insights into the performance of their security investments, and clear guidance on resource allocation. We aim to make it a standard practice for companies to baseline their cybersecurity maturity, improve their defenses step by step, and update policies and configurations based on dynamic threat intelligence. Ultimately, USP Management should empower organizations to be both agile and resilient—ready to pivot when new threats appear and robust enough to handle disruptions without halting their business.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the future company goals? Srivastasa concluded:

“We will lead and define the USP category by continuing to refine CompassOne and broaden its capabilities. This includes deeper integrations with identity providers, email security, and other security vendors, expanded analytics for better risk modeling, and more streamlined workflows for MSPs. We’re also strengthening our global partner footprint and forming strategic alliances that enhance the value we deliver to customers. Our overarching goal is to remain at the forefront of Unified Security Posture Management, ensuring that organizations not only detect threats, but also grow more resilient each day.”
