BlackRock: Acquisition Of ElmTree Funds Completed

By Amit Chowdhry • Sep 2, 2025

BlackRock has completed its acquisition of ElmTree Funds. This strategic move represents a significant step forward for BlackRock’s Private Financing Solutions (PFS) platform. By integrating ElmTree into its operations, BlackRock aims to offer even more comprehensive solutions for a diverse range of companies and investors.

ElmTree Funds has built a reputation as a leader in the commercial net-lease sector, known for its ability to navigate complex market dynamics and deliver value. With this acquisition, PFS will be able to accelerate its efforts to scale investment solutions that cater exactly to what clients need—long-term, reliable contractual income for their portfolios. This is especially important in today’s economic climate, where investors are increasingly seeking stability and predictability in their investment strategies.

Under this new structure, James Koman will continue to lead the investment strategies at ElmTree, ensuring a seamless transition and the ongoing delivery of innovative solutions. His leadership and experience will be crucial in maintaining the high standards that clients have come to expect, while also exploring new opportunities for growth.

Advisors/Counsel: Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, and Sidley Austin acted as legal counsel to BlackRock and HPS. Goldman Sachs served as financial advisor to HPS. Berkshire Global Advisors served as financial advisor, and Kirkland & Ellis acted as legal counsel to ElmTree Funds.
