Blackstone has entered into a definitive agreement to make a significant investment in FUTRONIC, a South Korean provider of high-precision actuators and motion control technologies. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The investment is being made through private equity funds affiliated with Blackstone and in partnership with FUTRONIC founder Jin-ho Ko. Ko will remain chairman and chief executive officer while working with Blackstone to accelerate the company’s international growth and expansion into additional end markets.

Founded in 1993, FUTRONIC supplies high-precision actuator technologies to the global automotive and industrial robotics industries. The company has developed long-standing relationships with automotive original equipment manufacturers and their supplier networks.

FUTRONIC also works with customers during the early stages of engineering and product development. Its capabilities are increasingly being applied across broader mobility markets, including humanoid robots and general-purpose robotics.

Actuators convert electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic energy into controlled physical movement. These components are critical in systems that require precise positioning, force and motion, including vehicles, industrial automation equipment and robotic platforms.

FUTRONIC combines actuator technology with broader mechatronic and motion control expertise. Mechatronics integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, control systems and software to create automated products capable of performing coordinated physical tasks.

The company maintains primary operations in South Korea and the United States and is continuing to expand its international presence. Blackstone plans to use its global platform, operating resources and industry relationships to support that expansion.

The partnership is also expected to help FUTRONIC deepen its relationships with existing automotive customers while pursuing opportunities in robotics and automation. Demand for advanced motion control technologies is increasing as manufacturers introduce more automated and intelligent physical systems.

Blackstone views the convergence of artificial intelligence and the physical world as an important investment theme. AI-enabled robots and automated equipment require reliable components that can translate software instructions into accurate and repeatable movement.

Humanoid robotics remains an emerging market, but companies are investing in platforms designed to perform tasks in environments built for people. FUTRONIC’s actuator and engineering capabilities could position it to support manufacturers developing those systems.

The transaction also reflects Blackstone’s strategy of partnering with founders and family-owned businesses. The investment firm plans to support FUTRONIC’s existing leadership team while providing resources intended to strengthen its operations and commercial reach.

Blackstone manages more than $1.3 trillion across strategies including private equity, real estate, credit, infrastructure, life sciences and growth equity. The FUTRONIC investment further expands its exposure to businesses supporting automotive technology, robotics and industrial automation.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. Following completion, FUTRONIC will continue operating under Ko’s leadership while pursuing growth across its established automotive business and emerging robotics markets.
