Blank Rome Adds Four-Lawyer Team To Expand Commodities, Energy And Finance Practices

Blank Rome has added a four-lawyer team from Hogan Lovells to its New York office, strengthening the firm’s capabilities across commodities trading and finance, structured finance, energy transactions, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. The group includes partners Christopher J. Doyle and Marvin J. Goldstein, along with senior counsels Richard L. Fried and Mark A. Speiser.

Doyle joins Blank Rome’s Corporate, M&A, and Securities group, while Goldstein, Fried, and Speiser join the firm’s Finance, Restructuring, and Bankruptcy group.

The team advises commodity merchants, traders, financial institutions, and other market participants on transactions spanning borrowing base revolving credit facilities, structured financings, renewable energy, carbon capture, environmental credits and allowances, and securitizations involving mortgage, consumer, and trade receivables.

Goldstein focuses on commodities and derivatives, corporate law, and energy matters. His experience includes structuring transactions involving renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture, environmental credits, physical commodity trading, financing structures, swaps, options, and derivatives across energy, metals, agricultural commodities, and financial instruments.

Doyle’s practice covers M&A, private securities offerings, debt financings, venture capital, and private capital transactions. He also advises clients on structured commodities and energy financings involving renewable and conventional energy, infrastructure, and related asset classes.

Fried concentrates on structured finance, securities, commodity financing, and corporate matters. His experience includes domestic and international securitizations involving mortgage loans, home equity loans, commercial loans, student loans, auto receivables, and trade receivables.

Speiser represents institutional creditors and creditors’ committees in complex restructurings, with an emphasis on the energy industry. His work includes advising creditors, asset purchasers, and derivatives counterparties in transactions involving Chapter 11 debtors-in-possession.

Blank Rome said the additions will deepen its ability to advise clients across the intersection of commodities, energy, finance, M&A, capital markets, restructuring, and the energy transition.
