Blast Security: Interview With Co-Founder & CEO Boris Vaynberg About The Cloud Security Company

Blast Security provides a preemptive, AI-enabled cloud security platform that moves beyond traditional reactive detection by enforcing native, automated guardrails to prevent cloud risks, lateral movement, and misconfigurations before they emerge. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Blast Security co-founder and CEO Boris Vaynberg to learn more.

Boris Vaynberg’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Vaynberg said:

“I’ve spent the past few years focused on one core question: how do we stop attacks before they ever become incidents? Before founding Blast, I founded Solebit, where our team built advanced threat-prevention technology that was later acquired by Mimecast in their largest acquisition. But my real foundation came earlier, in elite IDF cyber units, working on high-pressure, large-scale security missions where every second mattered. Those experiences shaped how I think about both security and engineering: when systems operate at massive scale and high speed, you can’t afford to wait for something to break.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Vaynberg shared:

“The idea for Blast came during reserve duty, when my co-founders and I were asked to lead a national-level cloud security mission. We saw first-hand that modern cloud environments move too fast for reactive tools to keep up – especially with AI amplifying both complexity and risk. That experience made it clear that security needs to match the cloud’s speed, scale, and complexity, with preventive built not as an after thought. We realized that the only reliable way to eliminate cloud risk was to prevent it altogether, and that insight became the foundation for Blast’s Preemptive Cloud Defense Platform.”

Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Vaynberg reflected:

“My favorite memory is the moment our early enterprise design partners deployed Blast across production and told us it fundamentally changed how they operate. These teams went from chasing alerts to preventing over 90% of risk before exposure ever formed. Hearing CISOs describe our approach as a strategic shift – not just another tool – was incredibly rewarding, because it validated the purpose behind everything we built. It felt like the exact moment prevention stopped being a theory and became a new operating model for cloud security.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Vaynberg explained:

“Blast offers a Preemptive Cloud Defense Platform that turns native cloud controls, AWS SCPs, Azure Policies, GCP Org Policies, Kubernetes Admission Controllers, into a unified, continuously enforced defense fabric. The platform automatically models every cloud change, plans the right guardrails, simulates their impact to ensure nothing breaks in production, and then safely enforces them at scale. This “assess, plan, simulate, enforce” agentic flow enables continuous prevention, eliminating drift, shrinking blast radius, reducing alert fatigue, and ensuring cloud environments remain secure by design.”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Vaynberg highlighted:

“One of our early adopters is Via, a global transportation technology company, whose CISO described Blast as a strategic program for shifting from alert-chasing to prevention. With Blast, they enforce preventive guardrails across their cloud environments with zero disruption to the business, dramatically reducing manual effort while improving overall resilience. This success story reflects what we hear consistently: organizations can prevent the vast majority of cloud risk without slowing innovation when guardrails are automated, validated, and enforced continuously.”

Funding/Revenue

Are you able to discuss funding and/or revenue metrics? Vaynberg revealed:

“We recently launched from stealth with a $10 million seed round, co-led by 10D and MizMaa Ventures, and we’re already working with multiple global enterprises securing production environments at scale. While we’re not sharing revenue numbers yet, demand has been strong across industries dealing with multi-cloud complexity and AI-accelerated risks. Our funding and early traction allow us to expand the platform, grow our engineering and go-to-market teams, and accelerate the adoption of preemptive security as a new industry standard.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Vaynberg affirmed:

“Most cloud security tools are reactive – they detect and alert after exposure already exists. Blast replaces that entire model with continuous prevention built directly into native cloud controls. Instead of chasing misconfigurations, we prevent them from forming by modeling every change, simulating impact, and enforcing safeguardrails automatically. This shift from “find and fix” to “predict and prevent” becomes even more critical in the AI era, where AI agents, non-human identities, and autonomous actions can accelerate cloud change faster than human teams can review or respond.

For early customers, this approach reduces risk by more than 90% and drastically shrinks blast radius. In a world where AI moves faster than humans, prevention is the only scalable strategy, and that’s where Blast leads.

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Vaynberg emphasized:

“Our vision is to make prevention the new standard for cloud security. Over the next few years, we aim to expand our agentic prevention engine, deepen integrations across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes, and broaden our preemptive guardrail catalog so organizations can operationalize prevention across the entire cloud lifecycle. We’re also focused on helping enterprises adapt to AI-driven environments where risk emerges at machine speed. Ultimately, our goal is simple: ensure every cloud environment can remain secure by design – continuously, automatically, and with confidence.”
