Bling Capital — a venture firm led by Benjamin Ling — has closed $113 million in capital commitments across two new funds. Of that capital, $77 million is being allocated for the seed-focused fund and $36 million is being deployed for an opportunity fund.
Ling told TechCrunch that the firm could have raised twice as much committed capital, but he had to block people from offering funding. “I had to basically kick people out,” said Ling in an interview with TechCrunch.
Prior to launching Bling Capital, Ling was a general partner at Khosla Ventures (2013-2019). And Ling also worked in various executive positions at Google/YouTube and Facebook.
Bling’s backers include individuals that work as the heads of growth and products at a number of large tech companies and startups. Some of Bling’s investors include Affirm CEO Max Levchin, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, and Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo.
At the seed-stage, Bling Capital writes checks of somewhere between $400,000 and $1 million for 10%+ stakes in a company. And for later-stage deals, he is writing checks for somewhere between $1 million and $3 million.
