Blue Owl Capital Closes Strategic Equity Secondaries Fund With Over $3 Billion In Commitments

Blue Owl Capital announced it has reached a final close for Blue Owl Strategic Equity, its strategic equity and secondaries strategy, with more than approximately $3 billion in total commitments raised across institutional and private wealth channels, as well as related accounts.

The New York based firm said the strategy is designed to provide long term capital solutions to private equity sponsors that want to extend ownership in top performing portfolio companies, often through continuation vehicles and other minority equity transactions. Blue Owl positioned the raise as a sign of increasing sponsor and investor participation in single asset and minority equity deals, which have grown as sponsors look to hold high conviction assets longer while bringing in aligned capital partners.

Blue Owl said the fundraising drew a diversified client base across its global private wealth and institutional distribution platforms. The firm added that it expects continued demand from private equity managers and portfolio company management teams seeking longer duration capital structures in a segment it described as structurally underpenetrated but increasingly important within the secondary market.
