Blue Williams and Houston-based Heard & Medack announced they have merged, a move the firms described as expanding Blue Williams’ Houston footprint and bolstering its trial capabilities across Texas.
As part of the combination, Heard & Medack’s attorneys will join the Blue Williams Houston office, bringing trial lawyers Joe Heard and David Medack into the firm’s Texas litigation group. That group is led by Steve Reilley, managing partner of the Houston office. The firms said the added bench strength is expected to increase capacity for complex, high-stakes matters, while also widening the range of litigation services available to clients statewide.
The combined team is positioned to support clients across a broad set of disputes, including premises liability, construction litigation, trucking and automobile litigation, products liability, maritime litigation, and medical malpractice matters, according to Blue Williams. The firm said the merger also deepens its ability to staff cases with experienced trial counsel from early case strategy through discovery, motion practice, and trial.
Founded in 1983, Blue Williams operates offices in New Orleans, Mandeville, Houston, and San Antonio. The firm’s practice centers on civil litigation, with a significant focus on insurance defense and related disputes. The firms did not disclose financial terms of the merger or specify whether additional offices or practice groups will be added as part of the integration, but they said the combination reflects continued investment in the Texas market and a commitment to serving clients throughout the state.
