Blueprint, a Chicago-based company that enables mental health clinicians to efficiently practice measurement-based care, has raised $1.3 million in funding led by Lightbank and Hyde Park Angels. This round of funding will enable Blueprint to expand its clinician outreach and grow its engineering and sales teams.

Blueprint’s platform is used for collecting and analyzing patient data to empower clinicians to more efficiently deliver measurement-based care — which is the practice of incorporating data to drive clinical decision-making.

“We believe that getting the right data to clinicians at the right time can save lives,” said Blueprint founder and CEO Danny Freed. “Today’s technology — for the first time in history — makes it possible to implement measurement-based care at scale. At Blueprint, we’re harnessing this technology to help clinicians make smarter treatment decisions for and with their patients.”

The Blueprint mobile app prompts patients to complete standardized assessments between appointments and combines these results with their exercise, sleep, and movement patterns — which are captured through smartphone sensors.

Often times, it can be time-consuming and difficult for clinicians to collect such measurements. So by removing these barriers, it enables clinicians to automate the data-collection process. Ultimately, Blueprint is aiming to improve the long-term health of patients suffering from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions.

“The Blueprint team has built something truly amazing, and we are extremely excited to partner with them. With the benefits that measurement-based care can provide, we see a bright future ahead not only for the patients using the app, but for Blueprint as well,” added Lightbank managing partner Victor Pascucci III.

Blueprint also drives additional reimbursement revenue for clinics. Blueprint bills insurance on behalf of clinicians for each completed assessment to make the benefits of measurement-based care more widely accessible.
