BMG announced it has acquired publishing interests in the catalog of Australian rock band Jet, expanding the company’s long-standing relationship following BMG’s acquisition of the band’s recording catalog in 2023. The deal includes the publishing interests of three of Jet’s four original members: Nic Cester, Cam Muncey, and Mark Wilson.

Formed in the late 1990s, Jet became one of Australia’s biggest rock exports of the early 2000s. The band released three studio albums and has sold more than 6.5 million records globally. Their breakthrough debut album Get Born achieved 9x Platinum certification in Australia and Platinum status in both the U.S. and the UK.

The band’s breakout hits Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Rollover DJ helped propel the group to international recognition, including chart success in the U.S. modern rock market and major industry accolades. Jet received three nominations at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, winning Best Rock Video, along with multiple honors at the ARIA Awards and APRA Awards.

The band’s second album, Shine On, was certified Platinum in Australia, while their third album Shaka Rock and the single Seventeen both achieved Gold certification in Australia.

Jet’s music has remained highly active in licensing and sync placements over the past two decades. Following the use of “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” in a major Apple iPod advertising campaign in 2004, the band’s songs have appeared across films, television series, advertising campaigns, and video game franchises worldwide.

Jet continues to tour internationally and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2023.
