BMNT, a government innovation company focused on helping federal mission partners solve complex challenges, announced the promotion of Brian Miller to President and the elevation of John Petkosek and Tim Donoghue to Director roles as the company strengthens its leadership structure for continued growth.

The appointments are designed to enhance BMNT’s ability to scale its operator-led teams across defense, homeland security, space, and health missions while maintaining the agility and decision-making approach that has defined the firm over the past 13 years.

Miller becomes the first President in BMNT’s history, marking a significant milestone as the company enters its next phase of growth. Over the past decade, Miller has played a key role in building client relationships, supporting business growth, and translating strategic objectives into operational execution. His new role is intended to help BMNT expand its portfolio of programs, partnerships, and client engagements while preserving the small-team culture that has been central to the company’s success.

Petkosek and Donoghue join Steven Peterson and Susan Young in an expanded Director leadership group responsible for overseeing standards, execution, and cross-functional coordination across the organization. The group will help scale BMNT’s operating model across a growing portfolio of programs and client engagements while maintaining the company’s emphasis on senior, mission-focused teams.

Petkosek leads teams supporting defense innovation initiatives, including Hacking for Defense® (H4D), a national network that connects university talent with real-world national security challenges and helps advance promising teams toward company formation and participation in the Defense Industrial Base.

Donoghue oversees complex pilot programs and implementation efforts spanning homeland security, sustainment, industrial base mobilization, and related mission areas. Alongside Young, who leads People operations, and Peterson, who oversees Financial Operations, the Director group is intended to strengthen the management systems supporting BMNT’s expanding operations.

According to the company, the promotions reflect its long-standing preference for developing leaders from within and introducing organizational structure only when it directly supports mission execution. BMNT noted that as government agencies face increasing pressure to accelerate innovation and connect mission requirements with nontraditional sources of capability, the company is investing in leadership capacity to support those efforts.

KEY QUOTES:

“As the government innovation ecosystem becomes more consequential—and more complex—BMNT has to scale without becoming slow, rigid, or conventional. Naming Brian President strengthens our ability to grow with discipline while continuing to help clients turn urgent problems into fielded outcomes.”

Pete Newell, CEO, BMNT

“BMNT was built around problems and outcomes, not slides and billable hours. Our work only matters if it helps clients make measurable progress on consequential missions. My job is to help BMNT scale the operating discipline, client trust, and ecosystem connectivity that make that possible without losing the rigor and judgment BMNT is known for.”
