BNP Paribas Asset Management Appoints Isabelle Scemama As Deputy Chief Executive Officer

BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed Isabelle Scemama as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, alongside her existing role as Global Head of Alternatives. Scemama will continue to report to Sandro Pierri as she takes on expanded responsibilities within the organization.

In her new position, Scemama will focus on accelerating the development of the firm’s alternatives platform and supporting the execution of its long-term strategic plan, including its 2030 growth ambitions. The company emphasized that alternative assets are a central pillar of its strategy and a key driver of growth and differentiation.

The appointment underscores the increasing importance of alternatives within the firm’s governance and broader business model. BNP Paribas Asset Management highlighted that strengthening its capabilities in areas such as infrastructure, real estate, and the energy transition will play a critical role in financing the real economy and supporting long-term development.

Scemama brings more than 35 years of experience in alternative investments. Prior to joining BNP Paribas Asset Management, she held senior leadership roles at AXA Investment Managers, including CEO of AXA IM Real Assets and Global Head of AXA IM Alts. Her leadership has been instrumental in building a global platform in private markets and alternative assets.
