Boomi has acquired Elementary Data, a provider of data observability, quality, governance, and discovery technology, as the company expands the capabilities of its Enterprise Platform for artificial intelligence and agentic workflows.
Founded in 2022, Elementary began as an open-source data observability project and has since been adopted by more than 1,500 data teams. The platform records more than 1.1 million monthly downloads and has built a community of approximately 4,000 members.
Elementary launched Elementary Cloud in 2024, adding enterprise capabilities to its open-source foundation.
The acquisition gives Boomi additional tools for monitoring the quality and reliability of data used by applications, analytics systems, AI models, and autonomous agents. Elementary’s technology is designed to identify, analyze, and resolve data issues before they affect downstream systems.
Capabilities being added to the Boomi platform include agent-driven pipeline monitoring, column-level data lineage, data catalogs, ownership and health scoring, governance tools, and AI agents that automate activities such as test creation, incident triage, governance, and performance optimization.
Elementary also provides a Model Context Protocol server that can expose data context and health information directly to AI tools and agents.
Boomi plans to integrate the technology with its Active Data Foundation, which is designed to move, contextualize, and govern data as it flows across applications, devices, and AI systems.
The acquisition follows Boomi’s purchase of Lunar.dev and reflects the company’s broader effort to build infrastructure that helps enterprises deploy AI agents with more reliable and governed data.
Boomi cited a July 2026 Forrester Consulting study it commissioned that found 86% of surveyed leaders said their organizations had moved beyond AI agent pilot programs, while only 34% said they trusted their agentic systems’ actions.
Organizations that deployed AI agents before they were prepared reported an average of $2.1 million in additional costs, according to the study.
Boomi said the findings highlight the growing importance of data reliability as AI systems take on increasingly autonomous decision-making and operational responsibilities.
Elementary’s technology aims to address that issue by monitoring data pipelines and flagging anomalies in freshness, volume, quality, lineage, and context before unreliable information reaches downstream AI systems.
Boomi serves more than 30,000 customers and works with a network of more than 800 partners. Its Enterprise Platform combines agent design and governance, API and MCP management, integration and automation, and data management capabilities.
KEY QUOTES:
“AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it. With Elementary, adopted by more than 1,500 data teams, with a ~4,000-member community, and downloaded over a million times a month, we’re adding the observability, quality, and governance layer that ensures the data activating our customers’ AI and agents is reliable, explainable, and enterprise-ready.”
Steve Lucas, Chairman And CEO Of Boomi
“We started Elementary on a simple conviction: data teams deserved the same reliability tooling that software engineering teams have relied on for years. AI made that conviction urgent. When agents act on your data at machine speed, trust in that data stops being a nice-to-have and becomes the foundation the whole enterprise stands on. Joining Boomi, with 30,000+ customers and 800+ partners, lets us make trusted data the default for the AI era, not the exception. We’re just getting started.”
Maayan Salom, CEO And Co-Founder Of Elementary
