Boomi To Buy Lunar.dev To Strengthen Governed Enterprise AI Connectivity

Boomi announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Lunar.dev, a company focused on AI and MCP gateway technology, as the company looks to expand governance, observability, and scalability capabilities for enterprise AI deployments.

The proposed acquisition is designed to strengthen the Boomi Enterprise Platform and Boomi Connect by adding advanced AI gateway functionality that helps enterprises manage and control AI traffic at production scale.

As enterprises increasingly transition from AI experimentation to operational deployment, organizations are seeking stronger controls around how AI agents and applications interact with large language models and enterprise systems. Lunar.dev’s technology provides policy-driven governance capabilities intended to deliver visibility, security, and performance management for enterprise AI environments.

According to Boomi, the acquisition would introduce both centralized and decentralized control layers for AI interactions, enabling enterprises to enforce governance policies across AI activity, secure AI access to enterprise systems and data, monitor prompts and responses, and manage high-performance AI execution across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The company said the technology would also support flexible deployment models, including on-premises, sovereign cloud, and private cloud environments where organizations require greater tenant control and compliance management.

Boomi plans to integrate Lunar.dev into Boomi Connect, extending the platform’s ability to provide governed connectivity between AI tools such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini and enterprise applications through more than 1,000 managed MCP-enabled tools.

The company said the acquisition would additionally add capabilities including cost management, observability, and scalable AI connectivity across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure environments.

Combined with the Boomi MCP Registry, organizations would be able to discover, govern, and manage AI services through a centralized catalog spanning both Boomi and third-party environments.

Steve Lucas said the acquisition reflects a broader industry shift from AI experimentation toward enterprise-scale deployment.
