Bora Pharmaceuticals announced the completion of its acquisition of MacroGenics’ GMP manufacturing operations for $122.5 million. The deal includes MacroGenics’ biologics drug substance facility in Rockville, Maryland, and an associated warehousing center in Frederick, Maryland.
The transaction was completed through Bora Biologics USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bora Pharmaceuticals. Upon closing, Bora also signed a long-term CDMO service agreement with MacroGenics.
The acquisition expands Bora Group’s biologics CDMO franchise, Bora Biologics. Following the transaction, Bora Biologics now operates 20,000 liters of single-use bioreactor drug substance manufacturing capacity across two active U.S. sites in Rockville, Maryland, and San Diego, California, along with one development facility in Zhubei, Taiwan.
Bora said the acquisition establishes a U.S. biologics manufacturing platform that can support sponsors from development through licensed commercial supply. The company expects biotech and pharmaceutical companies to increasingly seek manufacturing partners with U.S.-based, inspection-proven infrastructure as regulatory and supply chain dynamics evolve.
With the addition of the Rockville facility, Bora Biologics supports more than four active commercial programs. The platform has completed more than 120 GMP batches and supplies products into multiple global markets, including the U.S., EU, Japan, Canada, and the U.K.
The combined platform also includes integrated quality control and analytical capabilities. Across its U.S. network, Bora Biologics has completed five FDA inspections, including two at Rockville and one PMDA review in 2025, with clean results at both sites.
Bora said the platform has supported more than 33 biologics and 15 biosimilars. The company said this creates a manufacturing base for biotech and pharmaceutical companies seeking reduced offshore dependency and domestically anchored infrastructure.
Bora Group plans to integrate its U.S. drug substance capabilities with its existing sterile drug product capabilities over the next 12 to 18 months. This is expected to create a fully integrated biologics offering spanning development through commercial manufacturing.
