BRAIN.ONE: Interview With Founder & CEO Thoryn Stephens About The Brain Fitness Optimization Company

By Amit Chowdhry ● Apr 24, 2025

BRAIN.ONE is a company that stands as the only platform utilizing credible science to comprehensively track both brain and body health metrics in one integrated system. Pulse 2.0 interviewed BRAIN.ONE founder and CEO Thoryn Stephens to learn more about the company.

Thoryn Stephens’ Background

Thoryn Stephens

What is Thoryn Stephens’ background? Stephens is a molecular biologist turned data scientist based in Colorado. And Stephens said:

“I spent years as a drug development researcher in biotech before moving into data science and digital measurement. My expertise lies in leveraging data-driven insights to optimize performance in healthcare, human physiology and digital ecosystems. Over the years, I have worked across multiple industries, including digital strategy, e-commerce, and health technology, applying my molecular biology and data science background to drive measurement, optimization and innovation.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Stephens shared:

“I saw a white space in the market for a science-backed brain and nervous system information resource. The idea formulated into  BRAIN.ONE started with a team training for the Malibu Triathlon in the Fall of 2023. While preparing for the race, I recognized the need for a structured, science-backed protocol system to optimize brain and nervous system function. Athletes, executives, and everyday individuals all benefit from peak cognitive performance, yet there wasn’t a comprehensive, data-driven platform that combined neuroscience, performance tracking, and functional health insights. That’s when we decided to build BRAIN.ONE into the world’s largest database for peer-reviewed health protocols and microhabits.”

Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Stephens reflected:

We routinely hear stories of how health protocols enrich people’s lives, including Frank Parisi, who followed such a protocol after a life-saving heart transplant. His protocol is available on BRAIN.ONE!

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Stephens explained:

“BRAIN.ONE is a brain fitness and nervous system optimization platform integrating science-backed personalized protocols and real-time performance tracking. Our key offerings include:

— The BRAIN.ONE Protocol System: A structured system based on neuroscience, functional health, and performance data. Protocols are based on scientific publications, athletes, and our proprietary AI, with a human approval.

— BRAIN Fitness Dashboard: A personalized tracking system that provides real-time insights into cognitive function, stress resilience, and recovery.

— Wearable Integration: Compatibility with leading biometric wearables to measure and enhance neurological and physiological performance.

AI-Driven Insights: Machine learning models that analyze cognitive and nervous system performance patterns, helping users make data-backed decisions.”

Challenges Faced

What challenges have Stephens and the team faced in building the company? Stephens acknowledged:

“One major challenge has been bridging the gap between cutting-edge neuroscience and consumer-friendly applications. Many brain-health solutions lack scientific rigor, and many scientific tools are inaccessible to the average user. We tackled this by collaborating with top neuroscientists and functional health practitioners while ensuring our platform remains intuitive and user-friendly.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since its launch? Stephens noted:

“Since our inception, we have continuously refined our technology. Initially, we focused on developing a reliable protocol tracking system, but we have since expanded to include AI-driven recommendations, biometric integrations, and predictive analytics. Our BRAIN Fitness Dashboard has become more sophisticated, allowing users to track their cognitive and nervous system health. We are also exploring partnerships with medical institutions to validate our methodologies further.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Stephens cited:

— Successfully closing our seed round, raising $1.5 million.

— Building a strong advisory board, including experts like Dr. Barbara Kruchkoff, Dr. Galen Buckwalter, and Russ Nash, former Accenture Global Health Managing Director.

— Launching our beta program with high-performance users, including athletes and executives.

— Securing strategic partnerships with functional health clinics and wearable tech companies.

— Preparing for our next funding round of $5 million on a $20 million valuation.”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Stephens highlighted

“We’ve had early adopters report improvements in recovery, memory, sleep quality, and stress management after following our health protocols and personalized neuro-performance recommendations.”

Funding

When asking Stephens about the company’s funding details, he revealed:

“We recently closed our seed round, securing $1.5 million and are now preparing for a larger funding round to accelerate our growth and scale operations. As a revenue-generating company, our business model is built around B2B subscriptions and enterprise solutions, targeting key sectors where cognitive performance and brain health are critical.”

“Our platform serves medical practitioners looking for advanced tools to assess and optimize patient cognitive function, high-performance teams in corporate and athletic settings seeking to enhance focus, resilience, and productivity, and healthcare providers aiming to integrate neuro-performance solutions into their patient care models.”

“In addition to our B2B focus, we incorporate a direct-to-consumer (DTC) strategy, allowing individuals to access personalized brain fitness insights and optimization tools. This hybrid approach ensures we maximize both market penetration and engagement, reaching businesses, professionals, and end users directly. With a growing user base and strong demand for brain health solutions, we are poised for significant expansion in the coming months.”

Total Addressable Market

What total addressable market (TAM) size is the company pursuing? Stephens assessed:

“The total addressable market for brain health and cognitive enhancement is substantial, with projections surpassing $10 billion by 2030. This encompasses consumer neurotechnology, cognitive enhancement, and functional health services. Our focus expands beyond wellness to include executive performance, sports optimization, and clinical applications, positioning us for considerable growth.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Stephens affirmed:

“Unlike other brain health solutions that rely on generic cognitive exercises, BRAIN.ONE is built on personalized, science-backed protocols that adapt to individual needs. We have created the world’s largest database of thousands of human health protocols and microhabits.”

“Our integration of biometric wearables, real-time analytics, and AI-driven recommendations, including editorial content, sets us apart. Our focus on performance optimization and long-term brain health also makes us unique in the industry.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Stephens emphasized:

— Expanding our AI and machine learning capabilities to provide even more personalized insights.

— Partnering with more medical institutions to validate and expand clinical applications.

— We are growing our user base by scaling our enterprise offerings for professional teams and organizations.

— Launching a direct-to-consumer app with enhanced functionality for brain health tracking.

— Continuing to raise capital to accelerate growth and innovation.”

Additional Thoughts

Any other topics you would like to discuss? Stephens concluded:

“We’re passionate about making brain fitness as mainstream as physical fitness. With the growing recognition of mental resilience in high-performance and everyday life, we believe BRAIN.ONE can play a transformative role in the future of health optimization. We always seek innovative partners, investors, and thought leaders who share our vision.”
