Bregal Sagemount has made a majority growth investment in A-Rent Test Equipment, backing the company’s expansion across electrical infrastructure, data centers, utilities and other power-intensive markets. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The investment will support expansion of A-Rent’s rental equipment fleet, geographic footprint, load-bank offering and technology and commercial infrastructure.
A-Rent was founded in 2019 by CEO Paul Seppanen with backing from Sterling Partners.
The Burr Ridge, Illinois-based company rents electrical testing equipment and provides calibration and asset-management services used to verify the safety, reliability and operation of critical electrical infrastructure.
A-Rent currently operates four distribution locations nationally and plans to open a fifth facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, in late 2026.
The company offers same-day pickup and next-day delivery and serves more than 1,000 active customers, including testing firms, engineering companies, contractors, utilities and equipment manufacturers.
Its end markets include utilities, data centers, industrial manufacturing, oil and gas and renewable energy.
A-Rent has also expanded deeper into mission-critical infrastructure by providing liquid-cooled load banks and related equipment for commissioning and testing data centers.
That exposure positions the company to benefit from growing electricity demand and increasing investment in data centers, grid modernization and electrification.
The new capital will support additional electrical test equipment, new distribution locations and further development of A-Rent’s load-bank capabilities.
A-Rent’s fleet includes equipment from manufacturers such as Doble, OMICRON, Megger, Fluke and Avtron.
Bregal Sagemount has raised $11 billion of cumulative capital and is currently investing from its $3.7 billion Fund V.
