Brellium Raises $23 Million And Launches CortexLM For AI-Powered Clinical Compliance

Brellium has raised $23 million in venture funding and launched CortexLM, a proprietary AI system designed to analyze patient notes for gaps in clinical care, documentation, billing compliance, and revenue integrity. The financing was led by Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital, with participation from Digital Health Venture Partners. Brellium plans to use the capital to expand into additional medical specialties, serve more provider organizations, and move deeper into the healthcare revenue cycle.

CortexLM analyzes patient documentation before billing and can flag potential errors while proposing corrections. Brellium said the system is trained around the requirements relevant to individual providers, creating what the company describes as an audit-ready record designed to reduce exposure to denials, recoupments, and compliance issues.

The company has audited approximately 22 million patient visits and said its technology has protected nearly $2 billion in provider revenue from potential recoupments.

Brellium currently supports more than 215,000 healthcare providers and approximately 200 provider groups across all 50 states. Customers include Gentiva, Maxim Healthcare, Rula, and Headspace.

Headspace expanded its clinical quality assurance program from reviewing approximately 2% of therapy notes to 100% after implementing Brellium. The company said Headspace subsequently achieved 99.2% provider compliance with documentation standards. Brellium also offers a financial guarantee under which it says it will cover certain costs if CMS or a payer later identifies an issue in documentation that Brellium previously cleared.

The funding will help Brellium broaden its reach into high-stakes specialties including cardiology, pain management, and primary care. Its broader platform is positioned around clinical compliance and revenue integrity, with AI analyzing documentation and coding before problems turn into payer clawbacks or missed reimbursement.

KEY QUOTES:
