BRG has appointed former Saks Global CEO Marc Metrick as Managing Director in its Corporate Finance practice, adding more than 30 years of retail, operational, financial and transformation experience to the firm’s New York office.
Metrick joins BRG as its Corporate Finance practice continues expanding after delivering what the firm described as its strongest year on record in 2025. BRG said the group is continuing that momentum in 2026 by adding talent and broadening its services to address growing client demand across industries.
His appointment strengthens BRG’s capabilities in the retail and consumer sectors, where companies are navigating changing customer behavior, digital transformation, restructuring, cost pressures and increasingly complex operating models.
Metrick spent most of his career at Saks Global, beginning as an executive trainee and eventually becoming CEO of the multibillion-dollar luxury retailer.
During his tenure, he helped lead the business through the pandemic and later played an important role in separating Saks’ e-commerce operations from its holding company.
He subsequently developed the operating plan connected with the retailer’s acquisition of another luxury retail group and became CEO of the combined enterprise, while also serving on its board of directors.
That combination of operational and transaction experience is relevant to BRG’s Corporate Finance practice, which advises clients across turnaround and restructuring, performance improvement and transaction advisory engagements.
The practice works with companies facing complex domestic and international business challenges, using finance and industry expertise to develop and implement strategies intended to improve performance and maximize value.
Metrick’s background gives BRG an executive who has managed transformation from inside a large consumer business rather than solely advising companies from the outside.
That operating perspective can be particularly valuable in engagements involving business model changes, organizational restructuring, digital transformation and post-transaction integration, where strategic plans must ultimately be converted into operational execution.
His Saks experience also spans several of the major shifts that have reshaped luxury retail over the past decade.
Traditional retailers have had to balance physical stores with increasingly important digital businesses, respond to changes in consumer purchasing behavior and reconsider organizational structures around e-commerce.
Metrick’s role in separating Saks’ digital business and later developing the operating plan for a major luxury retail acquisition gives BRG additional experience in those areas as the advisory firm expands its retail and consumer capabilities.
The appointment is part of BRG’s broader strategy of recruiting senior operators with direct industry experience.
BRG’s professionals include consultants, industry specialists, academics and data scientists working across economics, disputes and investigations, corporate finance and performance improvement.
The firm’s model is designed around combining technical advisory capabilities with practitioners who have directly managed many of the business situations its clients are confronting.
For BRG Corporate Finance, Metrick’s arrival comes during a period of expansion following the practice’s record 2025 performance.
The firm said it is increasing both its talent base and range of services as companies seek outside expertise around transformation, transactions and operational improvement.
Metrick will be based in BRG’s New York office and is expected to contribute particularly to engagements involving retailers and consumer businesses undergoing strategic or operational change.
His move also represents a transition from running one of the luxury retail industry’s largest organizations to advising a broader range of companies through major business transformations.
