Brown Brothers Harriman has named longtime partner and Chief Financial Officer Kevin W. Stone as its next Managing Partner, positioning the 208-year-old private financial services firm for a leadership transition at the start of 2027.
Stone will become Managing Partner and serve as BBH’s chief executive officer effective January 1, succeeding William B. Tyree.
Tyree will step down after more than 40 years with BBH and will continue serving the firm as a retired General Partner.
Stone has spent 34 years at Brown Brothers Harriman since joining in 1992.
His career has included senior leadership positions across Service Delivery, Treasury and Finance, giving him experience across BBH’s broader operating platform.
Stone has served on the firm’s Executive Committee for more than a decade and chairs its Finance Committee.
In his current role, he has global responsibility for Finance, Compliance and Human Resources supporting approximately 6,000 employees across 18 offices.
BBH operates primarily through two businesses: Capital Partners and Investor Services.
Capital Partners serves private businesses and their owners, wealthy families and institutional investors through services including multi-family office solutions, investment management, private equity, corporate advisory and banking.
Investor Services provides custody, global tax, depositary and trustee services, accounting, administration, transfer agency, foreign exchange, and data and connectivity solutions to asset managers and financial institutions.
As a privately owned partnership, BBH emphasizes long-term capital allocation and organizational continuity rather than quarterly public-market expectations.
Stone’s appointment maintains that internal succession approach, placing a veteran executive with experience across multiple firm functions at the head of the organization.
