Bruker has acquired the DISQVER clinical metagenomics platform from Noscendo GmbH, adding whole-genome sequencing-based pathogen detection directly from blood samples to its microbiology and infection diagnostics portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed, and DISQVER is not expected to be material to Bruker’s full-year 2026 financial results. The platform currently remains available for research use only, while Bruker advances regulatory registration for diagnostic applications.
DISQVER is a metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) platform that analyzes whole-genome sequencing data extracted directly from cell-free DNA in human blood samples, without requiring prior cultivation of pathogens. Its proprietary bioinformatics engine screens for more than 11,000 different microbes and parasites and can deliver results in less than 24 hours after sample receipt. The ability to identify pathogens directly from blood — without the days-long delay of traditional culture-based methods — makes the platform particularly relevant for time-sensitive conditions including bloodstream infections, sepsis, endocarditis, and other severe infectious diseases where early pathogen identification can meaningfully affect treatment decisions and patient outcomes.
The acquisition extends Bruker’s NGS-based infection detection capabilities, which have expanded in recent years to include rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing, hospital hygiene testing, and sample-to-answer molecular diagnostics through the ELITech Genius platform. DISQVER adds a metagenomics layer — the ability to sequence and identify all microbial genetic material present in a sample simultaneously — rather than testing for specific known pathogens individually.
