BTQ Buys QPerfect To Establish Fully Integrated Neutral Atom Quantum Technology Platform

By Amit Chowdhry ● Nov 11, 2025

BTQ Technologies announced that it has exercised its option to acquire QPerfect, a neutral atom quantum computing company based at the European Center for Quantum Science in Strasbourg. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions, including approval from French authorities for foreign direct investment and approval from the stock exchange. BTQ has also made a strategic investment of approximately €2 million for a minority stake in QPerfect, ahead of a complete acquisition.

With this acquisition, BTQ will become the first publicly listed fully integrated neutral atom quantum technology company. The transaction brings QPerfect’s MIMIQ emulator and the Quantum Logical Unit control framework into BTQ’s platform. MIMIQ is used by leading research groups and enterprise customers across Europe, Asia, and North America to design and test quantum programs before running them on real hardware. The Quantum Logical Unit provides the control layer that stabilizes quantum computing operations and supports scalable deployment.

By integrating MIMIQ and the Quantum Logical Unit with BTQ’s post-quantum cryptographic platform, the combined organization aims to accelerate the development of quantum-secure digital signatures, one-shot signatures, and applications for critical infrastructure, finance, and communications. The acquisition also consolidates intellectual property portfolios that support fault-tolerant quantum computing and the deployment of scalable quantum systems.

BTQ plans to establish a European research and development hub in Strasbourg to collaborate with academic institutions and national research programs. Early plans include demonstrating the Quantum Logical Unit on neutral atom hardware located in Strasbourg and piloting next-generation quantum-safe digital signatures in active systems.

MIMIQ is currently deployed through recurring software licensing and collaborative research engagements, and has been validated through partnerships in France and Singapore, as well as peer-reviewed work with hardware partners, including QuEra and Quantinuum. QPerfect also maintains agreements with institutional partners such as CRS4 in Italy and industrial partners, including Quobly in France. Integration with BTQ enables customers to adopt quantum-safe communication security while preparing for future quantum computing systems, all under a unified roadmap.

The combined organization will pursue a phased roadmap to commercial deployment. This includes continued development of a Quantum Logical Unit prototype, hardware integration and testing in Strasbourg, and eventual demonstration of commercial quantum advantage.

QPerfect’s scientific founders and research leaders bring deep expertise in neutral atom physics, quantum simulation, error correction, and control systems, complementing BTQ’s capabilities in cryptography and quantum communications. The acquisition aligns hardware, middleware, and security under one structure intended to support industrial-scale deployment of quantum secure networks and computing systems.

KEY QUOTES:

“By acquiring QPerfect, BTQ transforms from a post-quantum cryptography company into a vertically integrated quantum technology leader. This acquisition aligns software and hardware capabilities under one vision, to deploy quantum-secure solutions at an industrial scale and accelerate the global transition to quantum-safe infrastructure. It not only strengthens our presence within the European quantum ecosystem but also reinforces BTQ’s with the highest standards of quantum technology.”

Olivier Roussy Newton, CEO of BTQ

“Our journey with BTQ has demonstrated the powerful synergies between algorithm design and neutral atom quantum architecture. Becoming part of BTQ ensures that QPerfect’s technology will reach its full potential in next-generation applications that demand both speed and provable security.”

Philippe Blot, CEO of QPerfect

“This transaction demonstrates BTQ’s long-term commitment to integrating European innovation within a secure and transparent governance framework. By consolidating QPerfect’s intellectual property and scientific expertise under BTQ’s global structure, we have created a solid legal foundation for collaboration and growth across borders.”

Philippe Lucet, Director of BTQ
