Buyers Edge Acquires UK Fresh Produce Specialist NCB Foodservice

Buyers Edge Platform, a digital procurement network and solutions provider for the foodservice industry, has acquired NCB Foodservice, a UK-based specialist in fresh produce and other fresh categories serving foodservice and hospitality operators nationwide.

The deal is positioned as a step forward in Buyers Edge Platform’s European expansion plan and its second acquisition in the fresh produce management category, further strengthening the company’s footprint in the UK.

The acquisition is intended to help Buyers Edge build a broader pan-European “fresh network” by pairing local market expertise with the company’s technology platform and purchasing scale. Buyers Edge said the combination will deliver greater value and improved supply chain resilience for operators across the UK, while also connecting growers and regional wholesalers more effectively with national foodservice customers.

NCB Foodservice, founded in 1993, is known for its “local, sustainable supply model” and supplies produce, meat, and other fresh categories. Buyers Edge highlighted NCB’s service performance, including a stated 99.5% delivery rate, and said NCB will also be able to leverage Buyers Edge’s wider suite of platform services, data, and programs to expand capabilities for customers and partners.

Buyers Edge Platform said its Fresh Division in the UK will replicate the value proposition it has built in the U.S. fresh marketplace, while NCB leadership emphasized continuity of service and investment in local communities, alongside increased innovation and scale.
