BWX Technologies announced that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Precision Components Group. The acquisition includes PCG subsidiaries Precision Custom Components and DC Fabricators.

Precision Components Group is a U.S. manufacturer of complex, heavy-walled and heat-transfer components. BWXT said the acquisition expands its heavy-manufacturing footprint and enhances its ability to deliver U.S.-made nuclear components for the commercial sector.

PCG is joining BWXT’s Commercial Operations segment. The business will continue operating at its existing facilities in York, Pennsylvania, and Florence, New Jersey.

The acquisition adds more than 500,000 square feet of U.S. heavy-manufacturing capacity. These capabilities include large-envelope machining, heavy weldments, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and ASME-certified component fabrication.

BWXT is also adding a skilled workforce of more than 450 employees through the transaction. The expanded manufacturing base is expected to help BWXT support growing demand tied to commercial nuclear projects.

BWXT said the additional capacity will support reactor life-extension programs and new build activity. The acquisition comes as demand for reliable, carbon-free energy continues to strengthen interest in nuclear power infrastructure.

In addition to expanding BWXT’s commercial nuclear capacity, PCG will continue supporting existing workscopes. These include components and services for Electric Boat, Bechtel Plant Machinery, and other U.S. Navy programs.

BWXT is a U.S.-based manufacturing and engineering company focused on nuclear solutions. The company provides technologies and services for global security, clean energy, nuclear medicine, space exploration, and environmental restoration.

BWXT has about 10,000 employees and operates 17 manufacturing facilities globally. The company also has 14 strategic partnerships supporting the U.S. and Canadian governments at more than two dozen additional locations.

KEY QUOTES:

“Growing demand for reliable, carbon-free energy underscores the urgent need to strengthen the U.S. nuclear manufacturing base. By expanding our manufacturing capabilities, we can better support reactor life-extension programs, new build activity and the long-term energy reliability our communities depend on.”
