Cahill Gordon & Reindel announced it has elected five attorneys to its partnership and promoted two attorneys to counsel, with all changes effective January 1, 2026.
The firm said Jonathan Galea, Mark Gelman, James Mandolfo, Biagio Marino, and Jordan Wishnew have been elected as partners, while Eric Scher and Lynn Schmidt have been promoted to counsel. Cahill said the promotions reflect its focus on strengthening depth in key practice areas to meet evolving client needs and that the firm remains focused on additional growth opportunities.
The new partner class spans several practice areas. Galea, based in London, focuses on crypto-asset regulatory matters, including the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), and advises stablecoin issuers and decentralized finance projects, the firm said. Gelman focuses on executive compensation and employee benefits, including equity and incentive compensation design and the compensation elements of corporate transactions. Mandolfo advises clients on congressional investigations and other government inquiries, including criminal matters and national security issues, and has tried more than 20 cases to verdict, Cahill said.
Marino focuses on banking and finance and capital markets matters, representing investment banks, institutional investors, commercial banks, and private credit providers across public and private financings, including leveraged buyouts, syndicated loans, and bond offerings. Wishnew focuses on restructuring and special situations, representing lenders and other stakeholders in out-of-court restructurings, liability management transactions, bankruptcies, and distressed acquisitions, the firm said.
Among the counsel promotions, Scher focuses on executive compensation and employee benefits aspects of M&A and other corporate transactions, including employment agreements, severance arrangements, and equity plans. Schmidt focuses on environmental law with an emphasis on capital markets and lending transactions, advising on compliance, disclosure, climate-related regulation, enforcement matters, and environmental diligence for financings and M&A, Cahill said.
