CalAmp (Nasdaq: CAMP) — a global technology solutions pioneer transforming the mobile connected economy — announced that Amal Johnson has been appointed to Chair of the Board of Directors. Johnson has sat on the board for almost 7 years. Johnson will be succeeding A.J. “Bert” Moyer — who was appointed Chair of the Board in July 2013. And Johnson is the company’s first female Chair over its 39 years in business.

Johnson had joined CalAmp as a director in December 2013. Plus she currently serves on the boards of Intuitive Surgical and Essex Property Trust. Johnson previously served as a Director of Mellanox Technologies until its sale and as Executive Chairman at Author-it — a software platform for creating, maintaining, and distributing single-sourced content. Plus she also led MarketTools, a privately held SaaS company, as CEO from 2005 to 2008 and as Chairman until the company was acquired in January 2012.
