Callidus Legal AI: $10 Million Raised For Automating Core Litigation Workflows

By Amit Chowdhry • Jul 16, 2025

Callidus Legal AI, a platform that automates and accelerates litigation workflows, has announced $10 million in new funding, bringing its total to $13 million. This oversubscribed round was led by Cervin Ventures and included participation from AI Fund and others. The new capital will help Callidus continue its growth, doubling the speed of product development for its 1,000+ customers and expanding its market presence.

Callidus has already tripled its recurring revenue in the first half of 2025 by offering advanced legal solutions through its AI operating system. And unlike competitors that use chatbots for brief answers, Callidus produces substantial legal work, including detailed research, structured outlines, and fully drafted litigation documents. Its visual research system enables lawyers to make strategic decisions while the AI organizes data, condensing week-long tasks into about 10 minutes.

In May, Callidus launched its most advanced legal research and drafting system, incorporating a comprehensive U.S. case law database. With plans to unveil new features throughout the second half of 2025, the company aims to meet the needs of litigators across the entire litigation lifecycle.

To support this growth, Callidus expects to triple its team size in the coming months, hiring in Texas and California across various departments.

KEY QUOTES:

“AI has advanced to the point where substantially automating legal work is no longer a question of possibility; it’s a series of tough but solvable engineering challenges. We’re building the most advanced and interactive AI platform for litigators. Success requires the right combination of a world-class user experience, a robustly engineered middle-layer, and high-quality legal data. Callidus brings all of that together cohesively. With the support of our partners, and on the shoulders of the research labs, we’re reinventing litigation legal tech.”

Justin McCallon, CEO of Callidus Legal AI

“Callidus isn’t trying to replace lawyers, it’s giving them superpowers. Callidus turns a week’s worth of research into ten minutes of structured insight, all while keeping the attorney in the loop. That kind of precision, paired with deep respect for how law is actually practiced, is rare in legal tech. We’re backing the Callidus team because they’re not only building fast, but building right – with discipline, focus, and a deep understanding of the profession they’re supporting.”

Taylor Oliver, Partner at Cervin Ventures

“What excites us about Callidus is their technical depth: custom legal reasoning models, intelligent document understanding, and end-to-end automation that mirrors how great lawyers work. Justin McCallon and his team are building AI agentic support for litigators — a platform that represents a generational shift in legal service delivery that’s faster, smarter, and more strategically insightful. The legal industry will benefit tremendously from this approach.”

Andrew Ng, Managing General Partner, AI Fund

“The legal tech industry is a prime example of an industry that can be transformed by AI, and Callidus is at the forefront of this shift. Callidus’ AI-powered platform is already streamlining workflows for litigators, delivering solutions that meet their real-world needs. This momentum is a testament to the difficult problems and workflows Callidus is addressing and to the outstanding Callidus team. We’re excited to see what the next phase of growth looks like as Callidus continues building critical software for the legal industry.”
