The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) has appointed Kirsty Jenkinson as Senior Investment Director of Private Markets and Sustainable Investment and Stewardship Strategies (SISS). Jenkinson, who joined CalSTRS in 2019, played a key role in launching and growing the multi-asset class SISS Private Portfolio and has led the organization’s net-zero strategy since 2021.
In her new role, Jenkinson oversees the Real Estate, Private Equity, Inflation Sensitive, Collaborative Strategies, and SISS teams, reporting to Chief Investment Officer Scott Chan. Her responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, implementing sustainable investment and stewardship strategies, and managing both internal and external investment portfolios.
With over 30 years of global financial experience, Jenkinson has held senior roles in the UK and US, focusing on leadership, strategy development, and portfolio management. She holds a Master’s in international history from the University of Edinburgh and serves on several boards, including Ceres and the Business and Human Rights Resource Center.
