Cambium Acquires Urban Evolutions To Expand Into Architectural Wood Interiors

Cambium acquired Urban Evolutions, adding a 27-year-old architectural wood interiors business to its nationwide technology and materials platform.

The transaction combines Urban Evolutions’ interior products expertise and national customer base with Cambium’s technology and domestic wood supply network.

Urban Evolutions has designed and manufactured customized wood products for commercial, retail, and residential interiors for nearly three decades.

Its products include dimensional wall paneling, flooring, architectural veneer, reclaimed wood, urban wood, select-harvest materials, and wood sourced from Tribal Nations’ timber harvests.

Projects using Urban Evolutions materials include LinkedIn’s LEED Gold Omaha campus and Sunnyvale offices, OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters, and Harvard’s One Milestone life sciences complex.

The company has also supplied materials for Nike’s SoHo store and URBN, the parent of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People, including more than 600 retail locations.

Cambium operates a nationwide network of local mills and suppliers and has developed technology intended to make domestic wood sourcing and specification easier.

Its existing portfolio includes exterior cladding, decking, thermally modified wood, fire-resistant wood, and structural products.

Urban Evolutions gives Cambium its first comprehensive interiors offering, including paneling, flooring, and tabletops.

Cambium has grown from one office to six during the past 18 months and now employs more than 110 people across the East Coast, West Coast, and Midwest.

Urban Evolutions will retain its name, team, and existing operating approach.
