Canopy Aerospace & Defense Acquires Aviotec

Canopy Aerospace & Defense, a portfolio company of Trive Capital, has acquired Aviotec, expanding its international aerospace manufacturing platform and adding capabilities deeper within the satellite and spacecraft supply chain.

Based in Turin, Italy, Aviotec supplies multi-layer insulation blankets and electrical harnesses for satellites and spacecraft and provides in-house design, analysis, manufacturing and integration services to institutional and commercial space programs across Europe.

The acquisition is being completed through Canopy International B.V., Canopy A&D’s Amsterdam-based European platform overseeing regional operations and strategic growth initiatives.

Canopy A&D now operates centers of excellence across the United States, United Kingdom and Europe as it develops a vertically integrated aerospace and defense materials and manufacturing business.

Founded in 2008, Aviotec brings more than 15 years of experience in thermal-protection MLI blankets, high-reliability electrical harnesses and satellite design and integration.

The acquisition combines those capabilities with Canopy A&D’s expertise in advanced materials development, Flexible Thermal Protection Systems, robotic coating applications and 3D ceramic manufacturing.

Canopy A&D operates facilities in Los Angeles, Denver, Cape Canaveral, the United Kingdom and Italy.

Trive Capital is a Dallas-based private equity firm with more than $8 billion of regulatory assets under management.
