Carbon: $60 Million Raised To Advance Advanced Manufacturing Expansion

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 15, 2025

Carbon announced that it has raised $60 million in new funding, marking one of the most significant recent investments in the additive manufacturing sector. The round was led by long-time supporters, including Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake, adidas, Baillie Gifford, Madrone, and Northgate. The company said the capital will support its efforts to scale production capacity as it moves closer to achieving cash flow-positive operations.

The Silicon Valley-based additive manufacturing company has seen a rise in interest in flexible and efficient production solutions as industries seek to strengthen their local manufacturing capabilities. Carbon noted that growing production volumes, more substantial process efficiencies, a robust pipeline of new products, and expanding customer partnerships have positioned the business for its next stage of growth. The new funding will help reinforce its standing as an industry leader with a sustainable and scalable operating model.

Since its founding in 2013, Carbon has established a platform that enables large-scale manufacturing of high-performance polymer components, an objective that has historically challenged the additive manufacturing field. The company has introduced new hardware systems, released more than a dozen materials, and deployed advanced software tools that support the production of end-use parts at scale. Its technology is used across consumer, medical, and industrial markets.

Carbon’s long-running partnership with adidas has resulted in the production of millions of components since 2017. It now extends to the newly announced Climacool footwear franchise, designed for improved comfort and airflow. In the sports protection category, football helmets using Carbon technology have ranked first in NFL and NFLPA laboratory testing for six consecutive years. Riddell is expanding its use of Carbon’s printed pads across multiple product lines, and other brands, including CCM, Schutt, and VICIS, also rely on Carbon-enabled components.

In cycling, leading brands such as Fizik, Selle Italia, and Trek have collectively produced hundreds of thousands of high-performance saddles using Carbon’s platform. In the 2025 Tour de France, six of the top ten riders used saddles created with Carbon technology. The company has also become a major supplier in the dental market, with customers producing millions of customized parts each week. Its collaboration with Keystone Industries to launch a flexible partial denture product, along with new software automation tools, reflects ongoing investment in dental innovation.

The new funding aims to accelerate the company’s momentum, deepen customer relationships, and position Carbon to shape the future of digital manufacturing further.
