Cardinal Infrastructure Group announced the acquisition of Piedmont Pipe Construction, a wet utilities provider serving North and South Carolina. Founded in 1999 and headquartered near Charlotte, North Carolina, Piedmont specializes in wet utility construction services. Following the transaction, Piedmont will operate under the Cardinal Civil Contracting brand.
The acquisition expands Cardinal Infrastructure Group’s presence and capabilities in the Charlotte metropolitan area, one of the Southeast’s fastest-growing markets. The company said the transaction aligns with its strategy of increasing density in existing high-growth regions while strengthening vertical integration across its operations.
Cardinal noted that adding Piedmont’s wet utility-focused crews enhances its self-performing workforce and increases its ability to serve infrastructure and site development projects throughout the Charlotte region at a larger scale.
