CareCloud announced it has acquired Empower Healthcare & Compliance Partners, a healthcare compliance and advisory firm, adding a fast-growing compliance business to its AI-powered healthcare platform. The transaction closed on May 22, 2026, with Empower now operating as a CareCloud company.
Founded by compliance industry veteran Mitchell Brie, Empower provides healthcare organizations with compliance, audit defense, regulatory readiness, and advisory services. The company’s offerings span revenue integrity, mergers and acquisitions compliance support, privacy and security services, and compliance and ethics programs.
CareCloud said the acquisition strengthens its ability to serve the more than 45,000 healthcare providers already using its platform by expanding into high-demand compliance services. The company believes the deal creates a major cross-selling opportunity as healthcare providers face increasingly complex regulatory requirements and growing scrutiny around AI adoption in healthcare operations.
Empower’s capabilities include risk adjustment and HCC coding audits, revenue cycle compliance, healthcare transaction due diligence, HIPAA and HITECH policy development, breach response, compliance program audits, ethics program development, OSHA workplace safety programs, and co-sourced compliance officer support.
CareCloud CEO Stephen Snyder said the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its AI-powered platform with complementary services that healthcare organizations increasingly require. The company expects Empower’s offerings to create an additional recurring revenue stream while helping healthcare providers improve compliance efficiency and reduce operational risks.
The acquisition also continues CareCloud’s long-running acquisition strategy. Since going public, the company has completed more than 20 tuck-in acquisitions, typically integrating them within a few quarters. CareCloud said the Empower transaction was structured as an asset purchase funded through operating cash flow and is not expected to materially affect the company’s 2026 financial results.
Empower will continue operating under its existing leadership team, with Mitchell Brie joining CareCloud as President of Empower to lead the combined compliance business. CareCloud said Empower’s compliance services will become available to CareCloud customers during the second quarter of 2026, while jointly developed AI-powered compliance SaaS products are expected to launch in the second half of 2026.
