Global investment firm Carlyle has announced a strategic partnership with SBI PE Holdings, Inc., the private equity arm of Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Group, to accelerate SBI’s expansion into multi-strategy private credit investing tailored for Japanese institutional investors.
As an initial step in the collaboration, Carlyle will receive a foundational capital commitment from SBI Group to anchor the launch of its new private credit strategy. The initiative marks SBI’s first significant entry into the private credit market, underscoring the firm’s confidence in Carlyle’s global investment expertise and its belief in the long-term growth potential of the asset class.
The partnership aims to establish a comprehensive private credit platform encompassing direct lending, structured credit, opportunistic credit, and asset-backed finance.
Through this approach, Japanese institutional investors will gain enhanced access to global private credit opportunities across major market,s including the United States and Europe. The collaboration will leverage Carlyle’s global scale and investment capabilities alongside SBI’s extensive domestic financial network to expand institutional participation in international credit markets.
Carlyle’s Global Credit platform currently manages approximately US$203 billion in assets across the credit spectrum, serving nearly 1,000 borrower relationships worldwide. The platform encompasses direct lending, opportunistic credit, and asset-backed finance strategies, offering investors scale and flexibility across various credit solutions.
