Carmela Foods, a family-owned specialty food distributor serving the Midwest, announced the acquisition of J. Prescott Company, a Cincinnati-based business with more than 40 years of customer relationships in the specialty food market.
The acquisition expands Carmela Foods into the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky markets, creating a new territory for growth across retail and foodservice channels. J. Prescott Company has built its reputation on quality products, consistency, and personalized service throughout the region.
Founded by John Prescott, J. Prescott Company will transition into Carmela Foods as Prescott steps back from day-to-day operations. Carmela Foods founder Anthony Tocco established the company in 1992 with a customer-first philosophy that the company says continues to guide its operations today.
As part of the acquisition, Carmela Foods said it will provide expanded operational resources, broader product offerings, and additional support capabilities while maintaining the personalized customer service approach that J. Prescott Company customers are accustomed to receiving. The company also noted that its partnership with Chef Source and owner Roger Kreager will continue to support expertise in categories such as chocolate, desserts, and specialty items.
