Carnegie Learning acquired Ethiqly, an AI-powered writing platform, from Owl Ventures and Ethiqly management.
Carnegie Learning plans to integrate Ethiqly’s technology with its literacy offerings, including Lenses on Literature.
Ethiqly was developed in collaboration with global design and innovation firm IDEO.
The company was founded by Clinton Grusd, Jared Grusd, and Brandon Grusd.
Its platform supports students throughout the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, and revision.
Ethiqly also provides educators with visibility into student thinking and progress, supporting more consistent feedback and evaluation.
Carnegie Learning said the technology aligns with its approach to using artificial intelligence to strengthen student writing and critical-thinking skills rather than replacing the work performed by students.
The combination is intended to create an AI-supported writing instruction model that combines Carnegie Learning’s curriculum and research experience with Ethiqly’s technology.
Carnegie Learning serves more than 5.5 million students and educators across all 50 states and Canada.
