Casepoint, a provider of eDiscovery, legal hold, FOIA, investigations and compliance technology, has appointed Varun Bisht as Vice President of Governance and Compliance as the company expands its work with government agencies and highly regulated enterprises.

Bisht joins Casepoint with experience spanning federal government, technology, privacy, cybersecurity, enterprise risk and the military. He most recently served as Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy Chief for Information and Privacy Governance at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

At Casepoint, Bisht will lead governance and compliance programs across the company’s government and enterprise businesses, with a particular focus on the security, privacy and regulatory requirements surrounding the growing use of artificial intelligence.

The appointment comes as agencies and regulated companies increasingly introduce AI into legal, investigative and compliance workflows while facing heightened expectations around transparency, data protection, auditability and responsible use.

Bisht will work across Casepoint’s security, technology, product, legal and customer-facing teams to translate emerging customer requirements into operational and product strategies.

His responsibilities will include strengthening the company’s overall security and compliance posture for highly sensitive environments and developing governance frameworks around the responsible deployment of AI across Casepoint’s products and internal operations.

The role also includes privacy and data governance, covering policies for the collection, processing, protection, retention and use of sensitive information.

Bisht will additionally help integrate privacy, cybersecurity, compliance and AI-related concerns into Casepoint’s broader enterprise risk management framework.

The company sees that work as increasingly important as its customers adopt more assistive, predictive and agentic AI capabilities.

Government agencies and regulated organizations often face more demanding requirements than typical commercial software users because they may be handling sensitive legal information, investigative records, regulated data or mission-critical government materials.

For Casepoint, that makes governance an important counterpart to AI product development.

Bisht spent four years at ATF, where his work centered on privacy governance and oversight.

Before joining the federal government, he spent more than three years at Amazon in leadership positions covering privacy, IT audit, enterprise risk and incident management.

Earlier in his career, he spent nearly five years at Verizon in business and technology roles.

Bisht also served for more than eight years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve, adding experience in environments where operational discipline, accountability and risk management are particularly important.

He holds a Doctor of Information Technology from Capella University and a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Big Data from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Casepoint said Bisht’s combination of public-sector, enterprise technology and military experience gives him a perspective closely aligned with the environments in which many of its customers operate.

The company serves federal civilian and defense agencies as well as regulated enterprises through a platform that combines legal hold, eDiscovery, investigations, FOIA, regulatory and compliance workflows.

Casepoint operates on a cloud-native architecture and holds FedRAMP High and Department of Defense Impact Level 5 and 6 authorizations.

Its AI strategy includes assistive, predictive and agentic capabilities designed to support legal and compliance workflows while maintaining human oversight.

Casepoint also supports an open Model Context Protocol environment intended to allow customers to bring their own AI agents into the platform.

The company said AI-driven decisions within its environment are designed to remain transparent and auditable, with human-in-the-loop governance built into workflows.

Bisht’s appointment strengthens the leadership structure around those capabilities as Casepoint attempts to expand AI adoption while meeting the security and regulatory expectations of government and enterprise customers.

For Casepoint, the broader objective is to allow organizations to use increasingly advanced AI systems without giving up control over how sensitive information is accessed, processed and governed.
