Celonis has introduced the Celonis Context Model, a new layer in the enterprise technology stack designed to eliminate the operational blind spots that prevent Enterprise AI from performing reliably at scale. The company also announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ikigai Labs, a leader in AI‑powered decision intelligence built on nearly two decades of MIT research. Together, the Context Model and Ikigai Labs’ technology aim to give AI agents the operational clarity, decision logic, and predictive capabilities needed to act with precision across complex business environments.
The Context Model provides a dynamic, real‑time digital twin of operations, translating how a business actually runs into a language AI can understand. It unifies process data, business rules, decision logic, and operational intelligence from every system, application, device, and interaction across the enterprise. Celonis positions this as the missing context layer that allows AI agents to reason correctly, act reliably, and deliver measurable outcomes rather than impressive but inconsistent demos.
By integrating Ikigai Labs’ planning, simulation, forecasting, and causal inference capabilities, Celonis will extend the Context Model beyond real‑time understanding into future‑state modeling. This will allow organizations to simulate scenarios, predict breakdowns, and make more reliable decisions. As part of the acquisition, Celonis will gain exclusive rights to MIT‑owned patents previously licensed to Ikigai Labs, and MIT will become a shareholder in Celonis.
Celonis emphasized that the future of enterprise operations will be AI‑driven and composable, with systems, data, processes, people, and agents working together through shared context. The company has built deep integrations with leading data and agentic platforms, ensuring that the Context Model can be consumed by AI agents regardless of where they are built. Celonis believes this combination of operational understanding and decision intelligence will define the next era of enterprise software.
KEY QUOTES:
“AI is only as good as the context it has. Every organization needs to give its Enterprise AI a holistic, living model of how a business truly operates. This has never been possible until now.”
Carsten Thoma, President of Celonis
“Precision is paramount in the healthcare industry, and you can’t accept AI that’s only right most of the time. We use AI as a tool to accelerate operational insight — process context enables agents to support our team in acting with precision.”
Jerome Revish, SVP and Chief Technology Officer, Digital and Technology Services, Cardinal Health
“Our goal at Cosentino is to build a digital workforce of AI agents that can run and improve our business operations at scale. What we’ve learned is that an agent is only as good as the context you give it.”
Rafael Domene, Chief Information Officer, Cosentino
“You cannot sustainably deploy and run trusted AI agents across a landscape as complex and varied as ours unless those agents understand and act based on the reality of how your processes run across every market, system, and function.”
Filippo Catalano, Chief Information and Digital Officer, Mondelez International
“Ikigai Labs was built on a simple but firm conviction: better enterprise decisions require AI that works with enterprise data. Together, we provide the fullest operational representation of business reality.”
Devavrat Shah, Co‑Founder of Ikigai Labs and Chief Scientist, Enterprise AI at Celonis
