CenterNode has made a strategic investment in Aquila Energy, providing capital and infrastructure expertise as the renewable energy engineering, procurement, and construction company expands across distributed generation and small utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.
CenterNode is an alternative energy investment platform with more than $800 million in institutional capital commitments.
The investment strengthens Aquila’s financial position and bonding capacity, an important consideration for an EPC contractor taking on increasingly complex renewable infrastructure projects.
Aquila plans to use the partnership to invest in employees, technology and operational systems spanning engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, safety, quality and project controls.
The company focuses on distributed generation and smaller utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.
Aquila and CenterNode see an opportunity in projects requiring institutional-quality execution that may be too complex for smaller contractors but are receiving less attention from large EPC providers increasingly focused on major utility-scale developments.
Aquila’s offering spans early-stage engineering and project value optimization through procurement, construction, commissioning and final closeout.
The company plans to preserve that full lifecycle approach while using CenterNode’s investment to support larger and more complex engagements.
CenterNode is Forest Road’s dedicated alternative energy investment platform.
It provides structured capital to projects, developers and operating companies across power and infrastructure and operates as a relying adviser under SEC-registered Forest Road Asset Management.
The companies intend to use their partnership to build a larger EPC platform specifically around distributed generation and small utility-scale renewable projects rather than moving toward only the industry’s largest developments.
