Cequence Security, a Santa Clara-based application, API and agentic AI protection company, has appointed Rupal Shah Hollenbeck, former President of Check Point Software, to its board of directors. Hollenbeck will advise on growth strategy, marketing and positioning as Cequence accelerates its expansion in the agentic AI era, where securing and governing AI agent workflows is becoming a critical enterprise priority.
Hollenbeck brings more than 30 years of operating and board leadership in enterprise technology. At Check Point Software she held the roles of President, Chief Commercial Officer and Independent Director across a 4.5-year tenure. She most recently served as Executive Chair of the board of LayerX Security, a cybersecurity company recently acquired by Akamai Technologies, and has held additional operating and board roles at Intel, Oracle, Cerebras Systems and Blackbaud. She holds a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Cequence frames her appointment as a strong endorsement of the company’s strategic direction at a pivotal moment for the industry. The company protects more than 10 billion daily API interactions and four billion user accounts across large public and private sector organizations, drawing on more than a decade of bot defense and API security experience. Its platform delivers insight into user, entity and agent behavior, enabling organizations to secure, govern and control agentic AI workflows while protecting against bad actors and rogue agents—a mandate that is expanding rapidly as enterprises deploy AI agents across customer-facing and internal systems.
