Cerberus To Sell Resonant Sciences To Joby Aviation, Creating Dedicated Joby Defense Business

Cerberus Capital Management has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Resonant Sciences to Joby Aviation. Dayton, Ohio-based Resonant develops and manufactures advanced radar, navigation, communications, radio frequency, sensing, and mission systems for U.S. national security customers. Its capabilities also include low-observability technologies, electronic countermeasures, and autonomous systems.

Cerberus-managed funds invested in Resonant in 2023 through the firm’s Supply Chain platform. Since then, Resonant has expanded manufacturing capacity, nearly doubled its technical workforce, broadened its radar, navigation, and communications capabilities, and moved technologies from R&D into production-ready products.

Upon completion of the transaction, Resonant will become Joby’s dedicated defense business while continuing to operate under the Resonant Sciences name.

The deal is expected to close during the first half of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
