The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced that DJ Hennes has been appointed director of the Market Participants Division, according to an announcement from CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig.
Hennes joins the CFTC from KPMG LLP, where he served as a managing director in the firm’s Financial Services Risk & Compliance Advisory Practice. Before joining KPMG, he spent 15 years at Promontory Financial Group, where he most recently led the Capital Markets Practice for the Americas.
According to the CFTC, Hennes brings experience advising financial services clients, including CFTC intermediaries, on governance, risk, compliance, and enforcement matters. The agency also cited his background in crypto assets and prediction markets as part of its efforts to modernize and future-proof regulations surrounding emerging financial technologies.
Hennes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from Vanderbilt University.
