CGI announced a business transaction and strategic partnership with Telia that will expand CGI’s cloud, capacity, and IT services capabilities across the Nordic region while supporting Telia’s focus on its core business operations.
Under the agreement, Telia’s cloud and capacity services for enterprise customers, along with its IT end-user services operations in Finland, will be transferred to CGI. As part of the transaction, nearly 250 Telia employees are expected to join CGI to support the continued delivery and development of these services. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
The companies are also launching a strategic partnership designed to strengthen both organizations’ offerings. CGI will provide Telia with scalable and secure cloud-based services to support its business operations, while Telia will deliver secure data center infrastructure and network services that support CGI’s growth objectives.
The agreement enhances CGI’s ability to provide secure and scalable IT environments for clients undergoing digital transformation initiatives. The company said the expanded capabilities will include access to Katakri 2020-certified high-security data centers, hybrid cloud environments, and public cloud services. CGI believes these capabilities will help organizations manage critical business data, advance automation initiatives, deploy data-driven services, and support growing artificial intelligence workloads.
The partnership also aligns with Telia’s long-term strategy of concentrating on its core operations while improving competitiveness. CGI noted that the additional data center capacity available under the agreement will strengthen its ability to meet the increasing demand for secure IT infrastructure to support enterprise AI adoption.
The companies confirmed that Telia’s Helsinki Datacenter is not included in the transaction.
