CHAOS Industries has acquired Atropos Group, an aerospace company developing autonomous air platforms. And it expands CHAOS’s product portfolio, creating an integrated autonomous platform that closes the counter-UAS kill chain.

Within its first year, Atropos completed six major design iterations, flew a one-fifth-scale prototype, and initiated the FAA certification process. The acquisition establishes CHAOS’s Aerospace Division, led by Atropos co-founder Vince “Dutch” Dutcavich. Atropos co-founder Colin Carroll joins CHAOS as Chief Growth Officer.

CHAOS Industries was founded in 2022 and has raised a total of $1 billion in funding from investors including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners.

KEY QUOTES:

“This acquisition brings together two companies with a shared belief that the drone threat demands a fundamentally different answer. Together, we will deliver pragmatic, vertically integrated weapon systems the defense community has needed for a long time, integrating sensors, platforms, and effectors at speed and at scale.”

John Tenet, Co-Founder and CEO, CHAOS Industries

“From day one, Atropos has been driven by the belief in flexible, affordable airpower. Joining CHAOS gives our platforms a purpose that perfectly matches that ambition, delivering a faster, more mobile, and more cost-effective approach to countering evolving threats.”
