Chariot Re Raises $700 Million To Expand Life And Annuity Reinsurance Platform

Chariot Reinsurance has closed an oversubscribed third capital raise of approximately $700 million in equity and debt financing to expand its life and annuity reinsurance platform.

The financing included participation from Chariot Re sponsors MetLife and General Atlantic, with Chubb serving as lead investor alongside other institutional investors.

Since launching in July 2025, Chariot Re has raised more than $2 billion in capital, completed three reinsurance transactions, and supported the reinsurance of approximately $20 billion of liabilities. The company said operating performance has been ahead of plan as it executes its five-year growth strategy.

The new capital is intended to increase Chariot Re’s capacity to pursue a growing pipeline of life and annuity reinsurance opportunities while maintaining its focus on disciplined underwriting and policyholder protection.

MetLife Investment Management and General Atlantic serve as Chariot Re’s exclusive asset managers, providing investment capabilities spanning public fixed income, private credit, private real estate, and private equity.

Chariot Re is an independent Bermuda-based Class E life and annuity reinsurer co-sponsored by MetLife and General Atlantic and backed by Chubb and other institutional investors.
