Independent agency Chemistry acquired Boston-based creative agency Colossus, expanding its design capabilities and establishing its fifth U.S. office.
The transaction creates Chemistry Boston and adds Colossus’ creative and design team to Chemistry’s broader integrated agency platform.
Colossus specializes in brand identity, design systems, and visual storytelling.
The agency has been named an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year three times, receiving category recognition for healthcare in 2026, B2B in 2025, and design in 2024.
Chemistry was named a 2026 Ad Age A-List Standout and previously ranked sixth on the Ad Age A-List in 2023.
Colossus recently added work from Adobe Acrobat, Wellness Pet Company, Kayem, and Astound Broadband.
The agency also worked with Moderna, Google, Microsoft, and MIT on a rebrand of Kendall Square and won an Emmy for a film about autism featuring Jon Stewart.
Colossus clients will gain access to Chemistry’s capabilities across creative, production, strategy, branding, design, social, research and analytics, media, public relations, digital, web development, Hispanic marketing, SEO, and technology.
The acquisition follows seven consecutive years of growth for Chemistry.
It is also the agency’s first major transaction since partnering with Breakwater Management in 2025.
